A Short Lore

StitchLandia is the country of slow cloth. It is bordered on one side by the gilded-age cities of the long evenings, and on the other by the open observatories where Navigators carry their work after the day’s lamps have been lit. Within StitchLandia, the Guild of the LivingThread is the order of those who treat cross stitch as a living act — the slow conversion of pattern into cloth, witnessed.

A Navigator’s Observatory is at once a private room and a place that can be opened, briefly, to other Navigators of the order. The walls hold a NavigatorGallery. The shelves hold a BoundGallery for the Navigators you have come to trust. The Whisper Wall is the chat space along one wall of every Observatory, where Whispers gather during a LiveThread. And on the long table at the center sits the MeltClock, the WundrCam, and the LensWayfinder — the three brass instruments of the Navigator’s craft.

Above the door of every Observatory is the Delphident, the sigil of the Guild. The eye in the Delphident is dim while a Navigator has not yet chosen to join the EtherWeave Network. The eye lights, and the Delphident itself begins to turn, only when a Navigator has chosen to be Guild and bound.
